Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026 · Petter Home Vet Services

Petter Home Vet Services is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data with care, transparency, and respect. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what rights you have over it.

Key point: Your phone number is shared with your service provider only within a 3-hour window around your appointment. Outside that window, it is masked and inaccessible. See §4 for details.

Who We Are

  • Petter Home Vet Services ("Petter", "we", "us") operates the Petter platform — a technology marketplace for home-visit pet care.
  • We are the data controller for personal data collected through the platform.
  • This policy applies to pet parents, registered users, and visitors to petter.in.

What We Collect

  • Identity data: your name, email address, and phone number when you register or book.
  • Pet information: your pet's name, species, breed, age, and any health notes you provide.
  • Location data: your pincode and delivery address, used to match you with nearby providers.
  • Booking data: services booked, dates, payment records, and booking history.
  • Communications: messages exchanged through the platform's booking chat feature.
  • Device and usage data: browser type, pages visited, and error logs — used solely to improve platform performance.

How We Use Your Data

  • To match you with available service providers in your area.
  • To confirm, manage, update, and communicate about your bookings.
  • To process payments and maintain financial records as required by law.
  • To send transactional notifications (booking confirmation, reminders, updates).
  • To resolve disputes, investigate complaints, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
  • To improve the platform through aggregate, anonymised analytics.
  • We do not use your data for behavioural advertising or sell it to third parties.

Time-Limited Sharing with Service Providers

  • Your contact details (phone number) are shared with your assigned service provider only within a limited window: from 3 hours before your appointment until 30 minutes after the scheduled end time.
  • Outside this window, your phone number is masked and not accessible to the provider.
  • Your address and booking details are visible to the assigned provider only for the purpose of completing the booked service.
  • Providers are bound by our Code of Conduct and are prohibited from using your contact data for any purpose other than fulfilling the booking.
  • This time-limited approach is designed to protect your privacy while enabling necessary coordination before and during the visit.

Data Sharing — Third Parties

  • We share your data with payment processors (e.g., gateway partners) solely to process transactions, under strict data processing agreements.
  • We may share data with law enforcement, regulators, or courts where required by applicable law.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.
  • If Petter is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with notice provided to you.

Data Security

  • All data is transmitted using HTTPS encryption. Data at rest is stored in secured, access-controlled environments.
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text.
  • Access to personal data within Petter is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
  • We conduct regular security reviews and apply patches and updates promptly.
  • In the event of a confirmed data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours in accordance with applicable law.

Data Retention

  • We retain your account and booking data for as long as your account is active, and for a minimum of 3 years thereafter for legal and financial record-keeping purposes.
  • Communication logs from the booking chat are retained for 12 months from the date of the booking.
  • You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see "Your Rights" below). Deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations.

Your Rights

  • Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data at any time.
  • Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.
  • Portability: You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: You may object to certain types of processing, including any profiling activity.
  • To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@petter.in. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies & Analytics

  • We use essential session cookies to keep you signed in and maintain your session state. These are necessary for the platform to function.
  • We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party behavioural analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Mixpanel, no Hotjar, etc.).
  • We do collect first-party usage data on our own servers: which pages were visited, which steps of the signup or booking flow were reached, and which referring website or campaign source brought you to us (when present in the URL). This data is stored using a per-tab session identifier that is not a cookie, is not based on your IP address or device fingerprint, and is not linked across browser sessions or devices. We retain this data for up to 90 days.
  • We use this aggregate data to understand how the product is used so we can improve it. We do not sell or share it. You can request deletion of any data we hold by emailing support@petter.in.

Children's Privacy

  • The Petter platform is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18.
  • If you believe a minor has created an account or provided data, please contact us at support@petter.in and we will delete the data promptly.

Compliance — India DPDP Act 2023

  • Petter processes personal data in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India) and the Information Technology Act 2000.
  • We collect data only for lawful, specific, and stated purposes, and retain it only as long as necessary.
  • You have the right to nominate a representative to exercise your data rights in the event of your incapacity.

Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
  • If changes are material, we will notify registered users by email or through an in-platform notice.
  • Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India), we have designated a Grievance Officer to address privacy-related complaints and requests.
